RARE SWEETHEARTS figural Novelty CLOCK & LAMP By United WORKING Vtg/ Antique Spelter body. It has a mechanical United clockwork, and an electric lamp. The lamps glass globe shade is almost like a hot air balloon or helium balloon. The design is excellent for many rooms and a large variety of styles of decor & holiday fun. It features a large heart around the clock face, atop which two young lovers lean towards each other and steal a kiss. Below this it reads “Sweehearts” in classic American font on a banner. The whole body is cast spelter. It makes this an excellent staple piece for your collection, one your friends definitely wont have! These clocks are extremely hard to find working or otherwise, usually you get an unpainted case with no hardware- Grab this one today for a great deal! Sometimes it is called an animated or automaton clock, but it is more a lighted or night clock as the only “moving” part is the pull chain. It is an excellent piece for collectors, gifting, display / Valentines Day & holiday decor, gifting to that special sweetheart, and more! It is in good condition, with no major damage. The paint is in good shape, with minimal wear from its years of age (to be expected). The glass globe shade is in great shape. It appears to be painted rather than milk glass, and has no cracks or major chips. Some very light nips from age, mostly around the concealed rim and nothing major. The spelter body itself is not marked by a maker or model number, but the clock face is marked “United”. It has some small cracks from age, an unfortunately common occurrence in many vintage and antique metal composites, but these cracks do not structurally affect the piece or it’s working condition. (See photos) If handled properly, this clock is ready to run & provide light for a long time yet! It has been fully re-wired, and fitted with a new vintage-style cloth wrapped cord. The cord is the only replacement part, the socket hardware & plug are both original as I found it. I have tested it electronically and tested its working, not timekeeping, condition manually. Upkeep and proper care for / checking of vintage electronics is buyers responsibility, and use of them constitutes the understanding of such. I have only lightly cleaned it to avoid damage of the paint. Pull chain works great. This clock comes from a massive estate collection, and was extremely well cared for in a temperature controlled room.
